NE chamber Pg 777 G/ Bones were scattered over - whole floor o - chamber but they were in confusion, frs. o skulls being found in 4 places This chamber had been roofed w timbers running across it (tr were also timbers in - party wall), w matting laid over them & then - mud & stones to a depth o at least 090 But it is clear t - roof so built was not flat but in - form o an arch built on - voussoir principle thus: [drawing (architectural sketch) labeled: post hole, 1/25] That the beam holes remained open proves t - stones here have not moved fm tr places : one runs through - springer o - arch : - centering must h been left in position & - arch is really to relieve pressure. T - beam holes remain further along, right up to where - roof is definitely broken, shews t this [?wch?] place & - earth settled back again before - beams had decayed |

![]() | PG/777 | A built chamber tomb with a collapsed dome, it had been robbed in antiquity but some artifacts remained along the walls. The collapsed roof of this tomb was first seen in Trial Trench E but the grave was fully excavated after the trial trenches had been opened into a larger area. This led to the discovery of a small trenched area next to the chamber that contained three skeletons, and an approach or dromos that contained another. These Woolley took to be the guards of the tomb in a small 'death pit'. There were two chambers inside the tomb, and the outer held the remains of four more people, possibly servants, while the inner may have held the royal personage. | (none) |
