Middle Assyrian
From around 1350 BC, the Assyrians expanded their territories and established an empire reaching to the Euphrates in the west and parts of Babylonia in the south. By 1050 BC the territories had been reduced by attacks and rebellions to cities of Ashur and Nineveh.
Description:
After the Mitanni-Hurian kingdom, the Assyrians regained control, and established the Middle Assyrian Empire. Ashur-Uballit extended the empire from the area around Ashur to the fertile plains of Syria. Tiglath-Pileser extended the empire to the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf. After the death of Tiglath-Pileser, the empire went into decline, and fell to the mass movements of people. It was re-established during the Neo-Assyrian Empire.
