Kassite
With the collapse of Babylon around 1600 BC, a dynasty of Kassite kings was able to claim the throne and united the cities of southern Mesopotamia into a single country, Babylonia. The last Kassite king was defeated by the Elamites of southwest Iran in 1155 BC.
Description:
The Kassite Period is denoted by the control of the Kassite people over Babylon after the fall of the Old Babylonian Empire. They gained control after the Hittite capture of the city, and established a dynasty based at Dur-Kurigalzu. The horse was introduced into Babylonia at this time. They brought political stability to the region and were able to rule Babylonia for almost four hundered years. Nippur was the most important provincial center, and was restored to its former religious glory under the Kassites. The period was ended by the entry of the Elamites, and the sacking of Babylon.
