Description (Catalog Card): | Gaming Pieces & Markers. 7 Gaming pieces. Squares of black steatite with a square hole bored into the middle of one face: inlaid red pastes; 6 squares of white shell with curved lines engraved in corners, in centre an engraved eye with inlaid lapis centre piece. 1-shell square, plain and engraved with the figure of a gazelle and in the background tall plants of the type commonly found on these plaques. 2-shell markers of thin rectangular strips engraved on the thin side with linear decoration. On the other 3 sides each end are 2 incised concentric circles. [drawing 1:1]1 |
