MASCA Metallurgy Testing
Museum Applied Science Center for Archaeology ran the Mesopotamian Metals Project under the direction of James Muhly and Robert Dyson, launched in 1985. This project sampled Copper and Bronze Alloys by drilling or snipping the ends of objects. Sample numbers were given to these objects. Many of these objects were then found in Samuel Nash's metal analysis cabinets when MASCA was transitioned to CAAM (Center for the Analysis of Archaeological Materials) in 2010. Sometimes the numbers have been lost, in that case we have listed Unknown Sample Number.
